Receptaculum aeris, etiam vas pressorium vel cisterna ad aerarium appellatum, praecipue ad aerem compressum conservandum adhibetur, sequentem functionem habet:

◆ Pressio tamponis, propter fluctuationes pressionis aeris compressoris exonerati, post receptaculum aeris, aer compressus stabilior erit in latere gasis.
◆ Aquam exhauri; vapor aquae in aere in liquidum transformatur postquam a compressore compressus est; pleraeque harum guttae aquae in fundo receptaculi aeris deponentur, et per valvulam exhauriendi automatice vel manu exonerabuntur.

"Octo" significat maximum laborempressio est octo bar.
Pressio receptaculi aeris, si libet, cum pressione operativa compressoris congruere debet; volumen receptaculi circiter 1/5-1/10 fluxus aeris compressoris esse debet; certe maior volumen receptaculi aeris adiuvabit ad plus aeris compressi continendum et melius aquam exsiccandam.
